About The Migraine Trust
The Migraine Trust is a registered charity in the United Kingdom that was founded in 1965 to improve the lives of people with migraine through research and education – and this remains our focus now over 50 years later.
We are absolutely committed to reducing the burden of this disabling neurological disorder by funding research, providing evidence-based information, campaigning for and supporting people affected by migraine.
Research is at the very heart of our work. We have made a valuable contribution to the current understanding of migraine by funding over 138 medical research projects and we are the only charity actively funding such research in leading UK academic institutions. As well as supporting and encouraging the highest quality of medical research, we also believe in sharing scientific learning and best practice to empower and educate.
Our commitment to advancing research involves organising gatherings of scientists, which have been taking place since 1966 when the first of a continuous series of biennial London symposia was held. These research meetings became international symposia in 1976 and for many years were the only European specialist forum at which research findings could be presented and discussed.
